Baseball season is right around the corner, and with it comes many of its time-honored traditions, including the pageantry of the World Series. Few, however, know that, unlike the NFL’s Super Bowl, the World Series experienced a major upset from the very beginning. Where it took the American Football League three times to beat their established rivals in Super Bowl III, the American League (then known as the American Association), was able to turn the baseball world on its head from the start.
Then again, it was 1903, before radio.
